About DogTown
Jon has been doing K9 Search and Rescue since 1998. Beginning with Rocky Mountain Rescue Dogs, Jon was certified in Wilderness, Tracking, Water and Avalanche. For the last 13 years Jon has also been a Canine Search Specialist with Utah Task Force One, which is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In his position as a Canine Search Specialist, his most recent deployment was to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. For 9 months during 2010 and 2011 Jon was an Army Contractor deployed in Afghanistan as a K9 handler/trainer. Part of Jon’s responsibility as a handler was to help manage the working dog kennels.
Theresa Cain Owner / Trainer
Theresa has been assisting Jon for the past 13 years in training his search dogs. She has been involved in every aspect and has been invaluable in the successful certification of all of the dogs. In 2011 Theresa attended the Sit Means Sit School for remote collar training in Las Vegas and has been handling the Sit Means Sit Salt Lake City dog training business while Jon was in Afghanistan. Most recently she has also become a Canine Search Specialist with Utah Task Force One. Together, Jon and Theresa have 2 retired Search and Rescue dogs, Gunny and Ajax, and a third dog, Mojo.
